Investigation of the microstructure and tribological properties of CNTs/Ni composites prepared by electrodeposition

Abstract Here, numerous oxygen-containing functional groups were grafted onto the surface of CNTs to improve their dispersibility in an electrolyte. The characterized by FT-IR, Raman, XPS, FE-SEM, and TEM. results revealed that functionalized composites was better than unfunctionalized CNTs. CNTs/Ni deposited on a copper plate pulsed electrodeposition ultrasonic dispersion using electrolytic bath with concentrations from 0 2 g l −1 . friction wear behavior composite coatings assessed two different methods. In first method, scratched progressively higher load 0–100 N, demonstrate 10 percent reduction coefficient (COF) compared pure nickel. other method involved applying constant 30 COF microscopic mechanism investigated at carbon nanotube contents, confirmed gradually reduced increase mass concentration, only 0.343 when content increased According XRD results, increasing contents changed preferred growth orientation. Moreover, FE-SEM images 1 sample indicated it had best resistance showed smoothest trace without apparent cracks. addition enhanced nickel matrix due superior mechanical strength lubricating effect exposed direct contact between Ni pair, acted as lubricants, rate.
